Celebrate Thanksgiving in Style!

Students gathered to share the blessings of Thanksgiving with Father Herb, their teachers and classmates.  Each class decided how to make the prayer service unique. Students wore traditional costumes of  Pilgrims and Native Americans, shared poetry and sampled sweet treats,

“No Time to be Shy”

Remember one of our goals this year is to incorporate the 4 C’s (Communication, Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking) into the curriculum.  We are very proud the Student Council for making the morning announcements over the public address system each day. The students prepare a script and speak for two or three minutes.  We intend to extend the invitation to more students as the year progresses.  Students in the primary grades are getting a similar experience during Calendar Time.  Public speaking and oral communication is an important skill for the 21st Century learner.

Thanksgiving Holiday

The break begins Wednesday, November 24 at 1:30 dismissal.  Classes resumes Monday, November 29.  Thanks you for the food donations.  The parish will distribute baskets to many local families.

Report Card Conferences – December 10

Remember to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher.  Grades 1 through 8 do not have school on conference day..  Kindergarten reports to school for a regular school day.

Children’s Scholarship Fund

Remember to apply online.  Last year families at St. Thomas received over $46,000  from CSF.   The school will make the computer lab available to parents who want to complete online applications.  See Carla Burke or Linda Matthews.

Sincerely,

Maryann Fynes, Principal
