Schedule for the First Week of School

Students should report to the school yard at 7:50 AM  The teachers will be in the school yard to greet the students and direct them to the appropriate lines.

Opening Week of School

*Students should bring to school a healthy snack for a mid morning break.  No soda, no glass bottles.

School Yard:

Cars may not enter the school yard to pick-up or drop-off students.  All lines will be escorted by their teachers to the Morris Street gates.  Parents should wait outside the gate to pick-up students.

Stationary and Supplies

For the purpose of uniformity and instruction, we ask that students purchase the stationary listed in the Column 3 at school for the price shown.  The supplies listed in the last column can be purchased outside of school.

New Title I Computer Lab

Philadelphia Office of Non-Public Programs will install a new computer lab in Rm 22 on the 3rd Floor.  The lab will be staffed by a Title I para-professional.  The computers will be equipped with  Reading and Math programs designed to improve student proficiency scores in those areas.

Health Forms – Medication – Food Allergies

Medial Condition – Please notify your child’s teacher and the school nurse regarding any specific medical problem. Medic-Alert bracelets are strongly recommended for any child with a medical problem.
Immunization Records and Physical Examination. Please provide documented proof to the school health office as required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Medication Authorization Form.  must be on file in the school office for any student requiring medication during the school day.  This policy pertains to both prescription and over-the-counter medications.  Students may not hold or self-administer medication. (Forms are available in School Office.)

Breakfast and Lunch Program

The school lunch and breakfast  program will begin on September 19.  Anyone who received a “free or reduced status,” last year will continue in that status until October 15, 2011.  Their siblings, new to the school will share that status.  All Kindergarten students, except those with qualified siblings, and new students will be considered “full pay” status, until application are processed on October 15. All  families are encouraged to submit a complete application in September.  Nutritional Development Services has notified us that standards of compliance will be strictly enforced.  All participating families must use the lunch order envelopes provided weekly.  Student lunches must be ordered and paid for two weeks in advance.

Child Development Center

Congratulations to the St. Thomas Aquinas Child Development Center.  They are now open and operating on the first floor of the school.  We welcome the new director Antoine Murray, staff, and children.  The Child Development Center will use the doors on 18th Street.  The school will continue to use the two doors located in the school yard for entrance and exit.


The Aftercare Program will begin on September 12. The program will take place in the school, not in the cafeteria.  Anyone interested in the Aftercare Program should contact Antoine Murray, Director of Child Development Center.  The program is subsidized for eligible applicants.

School Reach Program

We have subscribed to the School Reach Service for the upcoming school year. In order for this service to work, all families must keep updated contact information on file.  This service will help us to notify  parents whenever we experience same-day and night-before  school cancellation, schedule changes and unplanned events. School Reach helps schools by empowering administrators to notify parents quickly using automated phone, email and text message broadcasts.


Effective September 8, 2011 the tuition collection procedure will be slightly modified.  You may continue to drop off your tuition payments at the school office, however the office staff will no longer issue tuition  receipts.  This is a function and responsibility of the Tuition Office.   Anyone who wishes to pay by cash and wants a receipt at the time of the transaction, must make payments during set collection times. Tuition payments will be accepted and receipts will be issued in the school office from  8:00 until 8:30 AM, (after the students have entered the building)  and from 3:00 until 3:15 PM (after the students have been dismissed)  Monday through Thursday.  You may drop off payments during the school day, but receipts will only be issued during designated hours. It is our intent to continue to provide convenient service for the parents, while focusing on student needs during school hours.  Thank you for your cooperation.     In order for a student to be admitted to class on the first day of school tuition accounts must be current.  An Admit Card will be issued to all families who have paid the July and August 2011 tuition installments.  (Balances from the previous year and  the registration fee must be paid.)

The School Office is now located in Room 12 on the 2nd  Floor.  All visitors must sign-in at the Main Office.
